Our Mission
Togo Missions provides care, education, and job training for children and communities in Togo, empowering individuals to build sustainable, Christ-centered lives.
Our Story
In 2010, Brian Nelson volunteered to serve with a team in Togo, Africa opening water wells as a way to share the gospel. It was on this trip that he and a few others discovered a local woman taking care of a household of orphans independently.
From that experience, Togo Mission came to life, including the development of a team that proceeded to build and fund an orphanage that has graduated over 40 children, with 50 currently living there. All of their needs are met at the orphanage - food, medicine, schooling - and most importantly, being taught the love of Jesus Christ.
Togo Mission is faithful in sending multiple people there annually who have a passion to serve children and local villages, using their gifts and knowledge in areas ranging from medicine to farming techniques. As the older children graduate and age out of the orphanage they receive leadership classes, job training, and/or enroll in post-secondary education.
Our Purpose
Matthew 28:19-20 drives everything we do at Togo Missions. We live out the Great Commission by giving our time, resources, and love to make the Savior known.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

What’s Happening Now
Caring for Children Daily
At the God Is Great Orphanage, our team provides a safe and nurturing home for 50 children. Each child receives three nutritious meals a day, access to medical care, clothing, and school supplies, along with daily discipleship and encouragement.
Hope Club
Each summer, Hope Club hosts two summer camps with 100–200 children from the surrounding community. During camp, students are provided with school supplies and snacks.
Launching Young Adults
We are financially supporting 20 young adults who have graduated to participating in vocational training programs or university studies.
Strengthening the Local Team
On the ground, Mamma Yayra and our dedicated staff - including an on-site assistant, cooks, and tutors - continue to serve faithfully every day. Their presence ensures consistent care, guidance, and community for the children and young adults.
Community Outreach and Medical Care
During our annual mission trips, our team hosts medical clinics that provide care for more than 100 local residents, meeting physical needs while sharing the hope of Christ.
